Sleeping Beauty

It’s amazing what a little rain can do. Our living overlooks deep canyons and majestic mountains.  In summer, the hills are brown and dry  populated with a hardy bushes and heroic oaks.  But, recently, an especially wet winter drenched our countryside for several weeks.

Within days, we saw the mountains turn dazzling white and the lower hills erupt into rich green hues.  Lush grass, flowers and shrubs burst from the ground and trees grew thick with new foliage.  This spectacular transformation pointed to an obvious truth:  seeds of all kinds lived in these hills resting quietly beneath the soil, dormant, but ready to spring to life when kissed with enough rain.

I found this same principle reflected in my own life.  An unexpected job transition suddenly gave me the necessary time to “water” some artistic projects that had been dormant for several years due to a demanding job and long commute that had devoured my life.  With fresh moments to focus – as well as inspiration that comes from getting enough sleep!– these projects are finally springing to life.  And, it’s not only the projects, but my own artistic soul happy to reawaken after a parched season of neglect.

What Are Your Seeds?
What seeds- gifts, talents, dreams, projects, relationships- are lying dormant in your life just waiting to be awakened or re-awakened?  What steps can you take to nurture them and give them wings?  Ask the Lord to “water ” your dreams and direct  your steps to become all that He designed you to be.

“For we are Christ’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph 2:10)
